April 2009 Newsletter Advanced Makeup Artist Workshop! | Sign up now to take advantage of the EARLYBIRD discount!
What makes us different? With Stilista, you will:
- Train in a real photography studio
- Hands on training with real models
- Test with a reputable published photographer and agency models
- Consult with a celebrity artist while you are testing
- Review your current portfolio with an industry agent
Stilista's Advanced Makeup Artist Workshop is designed for the experienced makeup artist who is looking to learn advanced techniques for television, HDTV, film, editorial, fashion, beauty, fashion, bridal, and airbrushing makeup application. Learn how to make yourself more marketable by learning the basics of hair styling and fashion styling so you can command higher rates. Learn how to airbrush, and take advantage of discount offers for airbrush machines.
These intense, information-filled classes are taught by celebrity makeup artists James Cornwell, Jenn Quin, and Lilly Rivera from New York. Practice all of these techniques on REAL models, not on each other. Why is this better? It allows you more time with the instructor to perfect your craft.
Also, find out what agents are looking in a portfolio and how to build a portfolio that is marketable to agents. Learn how to grow your business and who to contact for work in the industry.
What's the hardest part of building your portfolio? We believe it is most difficult for artists to find excellent photographers and models to test with. At Stilista, we've done the work for you! Package B allows you to test with photographer Tim Coburn and agency models approved by Stilista Agency and Tim Coburn. Receive two beauty shots for your portfolio, a value worth well over $600.
If you are looking to take your makeup artistry up a notch, this workshop is for you!
Go to http://workshop.stilistaagency.com/details.php to view the workshop schedule and register. The early bird discount has been extended! Register and pay by APRIL 30, 2009 and use the discount code EARLYBIRD to receive 30% off the retail price! Hurry...SPACES ARE LIMITED!

Media Spotlight | Congratulations to Creative Director and Fashion Stylist Ope! Ope is features as a Rising Star in the March/April 2009 edition of Supermodels Unlimited Magazine.
Seeing herself as an artist first, Ope views fashion styling and creative direction as another medium to extend her artistry to the canvas of real life.
Ope has worked for designer Betsey Johnson for a number of years. She considers Ms. Johnson an early influence but sites designers Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood as inspirations. Although she enjoys artsy high fashion, she has also had experience with brands like J. Crew and BCBG that lend to her ability to be flexible with various style demands from commercial to avant garde editorials.
Style heroes for Ope are Grace Coddington, Philip Bloch, and Jay Manuel. If Ope could be the next "anyone", it would be one of those distinguished people or a pleasant combination of all three. However, she will settle for being the next "Ope."

Tips from the Artist | Spring Makeup Trends by Barb McDonell, Makeup Artist
For eyes - sherbet shades of pale lavender, pale mint green, pale pink and liner that is applied softly. When using black eyeliner, smudge it. For cheeks - mineral makeup is good for a pearlized or luminous cheek in pink and peach. For lips - light pinks, mauve pinks or even fuchsia - also lavender lipstick that has a hint of pink in it. Glossed lips look more creamy than shimmery. For facial skin - the look is hydro-luminous (natural dewy) as opposed to dry but not too shiny.

| Spring Fashion Trends by Ian Wearmouth, Stylist
So, Spring has arrived and you want enhance your style. Well here are the spring trends, which also made a big splash on the cat walk in New York city spring fashion week.
Going big is the new black.
With big handbags and matching pattern to that very cute spring dress in your wardrobe, there’s no mistaking who's who that way.
Big necklaces - the oversized necklace is in! Big and bold around the neck, is the new New York City Bling.
And, what’s old is new again - with a new take on the zipper in shirts and dresses zig zagging this way and that, all the way up and down the cat walk.
Well those are my three top choices for this spring, with the obvious robin blue pastels and flora arrangements, maybe its time to toss out the old and bring in the new.
