Winter Fashion Trends

Step up your foot game! I'm talking tights and the latest are embellished ones. By embellished, I'm talking everything from crystals to hand stitched leaves. I know snow is about to hit the ground but I'm telling you, don't put away those open toe platform heels just yet. Pair them with embellished tights and you will have one of the hottest looks of the season.

Now that we've stepped up your foot game, what are going to do about last year's jacket? Well by now everyone should know you can put studs and/or spikes on just about anything and you have a look. However, with the other hot trend in jackets you need to be a littler more careful.

Shoulder Pads! Now, with shoulder pads you don't want to look like cira 1981, Joan Collins (yes I Google the date) - you're not auditioning for Dynasty the movie. This time around it's a little more futuristic feel it. Add volume not length...think UP not out. If they don't make a point you don't want them period!

Moving on, if you're still not sure what colors to run with for this season? You can't lose with warm jewels tone. Deep plum, purples and blue are a few to choose from. Add these looks up from head to toe and you just flip your look for the season.

Iconography - The Thickest Issue Ever

Iconography Magazine announced in a recent press release that they will be releasing "The Thickest Issue Ever." The work "thick" doesn't refer to how many pages are in the issue, instead it celebrates beautiful plus size fashionista.

"No question this will be our thickest issue ever. I think that this is a first for most fashion magazines. I came up with the idea as we sat down to map out our upcoming issues for the New Year. There are many beautiful plus size ladies who deserve the same attention as the more popular straight models that you see in most fashion publications." - Ty Brown, Managing Editor.

The Winter/Spring issue of Iconography, affectionately titled "The Thickest Issue Ever", will also feature coverage from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, interviews with the hautest plus size designers, and Kijuana Chinette, plus size stylist and owner of Kapacity Boutique, who will be lending her expertise to this issue.

In the Works - PETA 2010

STILISTA's Cataanda James, Tomara Watkins, and Kahlil Oliver have been working on great new projects with PETA for 2010, including their Ink not Mink campaign. "I'm really excited to work with an organization such as PETA. Their cause to support ethical treatment of animals is a great one to support and I feel privileged that we can take part in some of their campaigns," says STILISTA owner, Sandy James.

Be on the look out for images from the 2010 campaigns in upcoming newsletters.

It is not sufficient to see and to know the beauty of a work. We must feel and be affected by it" - Unknown

Advanced Makeup Artist Workshop - March 11-14, 2010

Next session starts March 11, 2010!
STILISTA's Advanced Makeup Artist Workshop is designed for the experienced makeup artist who is looking to learn advanced techniques for television, HDTV, film, editorial, fashion, beauty, fashion, bridal, and airbrushing makeup application. Learn how to make yourself more marketable by learning the basics of hair styling and fashion styling so you can command higher rates. Learn how to airbrush, and take advantage of discount offers for airbrush machines.

These intense, information-filled classes are taught by celebrity makeup artists James Cornwell, Jenn Quin, and Lilly Rivera from New York. Practice all of these techniques on REAL models, not on each other. Why is this better? It allows you more time with the instructor to perfect your craft.

Also, find out what agents are looking in a portfolio and how to build a portfolio that is marketable to agents. Learn how to grow your business and who to contact for work in the industry.

What's the hardest part of building your portfolio? We believe it is most difficult for artists to find excellent photographers and models to test with. At STILISTA, we've done the work for you! Package B allows you to test with photographer Tim Coburn and agency models approved by STILISTA Agency and Tim Coburn. Receive two beauty shots for your portfolio, a value worth well over $600.

What makes us different? With STILISTA, you will:
Train in a real photography studio
Hands on training with real models
Test with a reputable published photographer and agency models
Consult with a celebrity artist while you are testing
Review your current portfolio with an industry agent
If you are looking to take your makeup artistry up a notch, this workshop is for you!
